Simulated Formation of a Virtual Cathode Chain in a Conical Drift Tube

Abstract

A PIC code was used to simulate the formation of a chain of several virtual cathodes in a conical drift tube with its diameter increasing in the direction of motion of the electron beam. Their spatiotemporal dynamics was calculated.
