Abstract

The dependence of the ratio of the squared velocities of longitudinal and transverse acoustic waves \(\frac{{{v}_{{\text{L}}}^{{\text{2}}}}}{{{v}_{{\text{S}}}^{{\text{2}}}}}\) on Grüneisen parameter γ, which is the measure of anharmonicity, and that agrees with the experimental data has been obtained. The quantity \(\frac{{{v}_{{\text{L}}}^{{\text{2}}}}}{{{v}_{{\text{S}}}^{{\text{2}}}}}\) turns out to be a single-valued function of the ratio of the tangential and normal stiffness of the interatomic bond.
