Abstract
This paper deals with the implementation of real-time image processing of rendered virtual scenes, where lighting calculations are produced in a high dynamic range. In this paper we propose a new method for realization of images' tone compression and modeling of “bloom” effect over bright areas using parallel computing on the GPU in real-time. The method is based on a modified version of the Reinhard’s global tone operator with the original algorithm of calculating global luminances of the frame and provides a simulation of the effect of blooming bright areas of the image. The proposed solution can be used in visualization for simulators and virtual environment systems.
