Abstract
The impact of nonspecific and specific interactions on the fluorescence properties of a 6-dodecanoyl-2-dimethylaminonaphthalene molecule is assessed in light of the dielectric permeability and the basicity and acidity parameters of solvents. The contribution from hydrogen bonds to the shift of the fluorescence band was estimated quantitatively. The influence of proton-donating solvents is considered with the formation of two types of complexes. The efficiency of derivative emission spectrofluorimetry is demonstrated in studying the processes of resolvation in binary mixtures (nonpolar + aprotic and nonpolar + proton-donating). The resulting data could be of interest to experts in the field of the theory of solutions.
