Broadband Ultrashort Pulses in Passively Mode-Locked Fiber Lasers

Abstract

Generation of ultrashort pulses with an ultimately broad spectrum in fiber lasers is investigated by using numerical modeling and analytical calculations. It is demonstrated that the spectral width of the generated pulses can be several times larger than the gain bandwidth of the laser active medium.
