Abstract

Thermodynamic analysis of oxygen solutions in niobium-containing Fe–Co melts performed for the first time showed that the deoxidizing ability of niobium increases with cobalt content in the melt. Oxygen solubility curves for niobium-containing iron–cobalt melts pass through a minimum which is shifted to higher niobium concentration with an increase in cobalt content in the melt.
