Abstract

For the first time the reactions of radical nitration of alkenes and oxiranes with nitrogen dioxide in the liquid and supercritical carbon dioxide (sc-CO2) media were carried out. Using octene-1, styrene, and their derivatives as examples, the effectiveness of the developed method for obtaining valuable 1,2-functionalized products, including nitroalcohols, dinitroalkanes, and nitronitrates have been shown. Due to the application of sc-CO2, the proposed method compares favorably with known analogs by the absence of by-products and waste organic solvents, as well as lesser fire and explosion hazards.
