Abstract

The effects of ozone on oxygen transport in the blood of experimental animals have been studied in vitro. Incubation of the blood with ozonated water at О3 concentrations of 2, 6, and 10 mg/L for 30 and 60 min caused changes in the oxygen-transport function of the blood, thus leading to increased oxygen tension and oxygenation, as well as reduced affinity of hemoglobin for oxygen. As a result, the content of the gaseous transmitters, such as nitric oxide and hydrogen sulfide, significantly increased, thus contributing to modification of the oxygen-binding properties of blood.
