Abstract

A study of the age-related probability of population death calculated for men and for women in Guatemala, Portugal, and Sweden (official data of 1959) reveals three components: natural biological causes (geometric progression coefficient ∼1.1), a declining socioeconomic trend, and oscillations with a ∼12-year period.
