Abstract

This chapter examines recent developments in self-publishing. In the book trade, self-publishing has traditionally been dismissed as little more than an exercise in vanity. But, as Young demonstrates, the possibilities of e-books have thrown up examples that force us to rethink the role and reputation of self-publishing.
