Abstract
In what has been described as a ‘movement society’ (Meyer & Tarrow, 1998), and as an historical phase in which the protest (Norris, 2002) and its participants (Van Aelst & Walgrave, 2001) have been normalized, communication by non-party actors, such as social movements, acquires considerable importance.
I would like to thank Claudia Padovani and Andrew Calabrese for their useful comments on a previous version of this chapter.
