MY FRESHMAN YEAR, I signed up for an internship in the housing unit of Greater Boston Legal Services. I showed up the first day ready to make photocopies and coffee—but instead, I was assigned to a righteous and deeply inspired lawyer named Jeff Purcell, who thrust me on to the front lines right away.
