Abstract
e-office builds custom software-solutions for digital workspaces based on the technologies of Google, IBM, Microsoft and RIM (Research In Motion Limited) and delivers consultancy services in this area. Since e-office was founded in 1991 it has focused on improving the online collaboration, communication and knowledge-sharing among professionals, where the optimal balance between people, the organization and technology is their focus of attention during the execution of their projects. In addition to the custom-made digital workplace software that is developed and deployed on a project basis, e-office has also developed a couple of standard scenarios which can quickly be implemented for a customer. When e-office was started 20 years ago, both founders were working from home, 150 km apart from each other, already using collaboration software. After spending quite some time in an office in Den Dolder, they were ready for a new location and a fresh building. They eventually ended up in Houten, mainly because of the parking facilities — a parking garage is located right across from the building, while other locations offered only around two parking spaces per 100 m2 of office space.
