Abstract

From an explanation of the concept of transnationalism to an outline of the many scholarly works on Korean-German affairs that have appeared in recent decades, this chapter offers a snapshot of the entire volume. Despite distance and occasional difficulties, Koreans and Germans have enjoyed a long relationship with diverse points of connection. Sometimes discordant, sometimes synergistic, these two cultures have a shared past, and this chapter presents an abridged preview of various aspects of their cross-cultural encounter covered throughout the rest of the book.
