Abstract
This chapter discusses the various phases of the reception of Rosa Luxemburg’s contribution to the theory of accumulation of capital. It outlines the deep modification Luxemburg made by introducing accumulation via subsumption of the non-capitalist spheres of reproduction in the colonial world. She understands this to be an indispensable part of capitalist accumulation. This theoretical innovation opened new ways to analyse the total of capitalist-dominated accumulation and reproduction of the different spheres of life. Third World theoreticians, feminists, ecologists, and the theoreticians of the alter-globalisation movements have reshaped Luxemburg’s model in new ways. A new and much broader view of the interrelationship between capitalist accumulation and social reproduction emerged opening ways to understand the deep structural interlinkage between them.
