Abstract
Green building programs are essential in promoting energy efficiency and limiting the carbon footprints of cities. Construction in China has been growing rapidly, and green certifications have played a major role as businesses look to keep down operating costs and energy use. China has three major green standard systems, and each one provides builders with different incentives. However, construction trends looking for luxury and high-end amenities are cutting into the savings and effects of green programs. China benefits from an enormous construction industry that allows for the implementation of energy-efficient programs on a large scale.
