Abstract
My country, Lebanon, where I was born and raised, has always been a place of strife, wars and conflict; a place where populations get displaced, human rights are violated, and corrupt governments create more suffering than good. In my three decades of life, I have continually witnessed displaced communities, neglected minorities, the suppression of freedom, and a lack of basic human needs and rights—ranging from the lack of electricity and water caused by the bad management of the abundant water in my country, to the impossibility for a Lebanese woman to grant her nationality to her kids, or her right for protection from domestic violence.
