Abstract

In this chapter, the author examines published reports of action research in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) for the period 2005–2015. Building on a previous review of the literature conducted ten years ago, the author notes significant changes in the status of action research in the PRC, including increased interest in action research. This chapter provides an overview of recent action research in PRC and its contributions to Chinese education, health promotion, organizational development, social development, and administration in state-owned and private industries. It points out how important it is for Western non-Chinese-speaking action researchers to establish relationships of trust, develop partnerships, make clear contracts, and understand Chinese organizational culture and traditional culture in collaborating in Chinese action research project preparation.
