Abstract

Chondroma is a rare benign tumor of the brain and may present initially with seizure or other mass-occupying manifestations. A 26-year-old man with generalized tonic-clonic seizure was admitted to the emergency department. The duration of the seizure was 5 minutes, and the seizure ceased with intravenous diazepam and phenytoin. In magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), there was a hypo-intense mass-like parafalcine lesion in T1 and hyper-intense in T2 with lobulation and no significant brain edema. On the fourth postoperative day, there was CSF leakage from the skin. The patient underwent another operation for CSF leakage. The patient was discharged after 1 week with Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) 15/15, and no neurological deficits. In the follow-up examinations, the seizure was eliminated. Follow-up CT scan showed significant remodeling of the brain. Concise perioperative planning and meticulous surgical approach are required for parafalcine chondroma. Long-term survival is favorable.
