Abstract

Compared with anatomy of Caucasian eyelids, Asian eyelids are distinct. The number of people who undergo ophthalmic plastic surgery increases by years, particularly among Asian, which makes us aware of the significance of mastering the anatomy of the upper eyelid. Currently, there have been many reports concerning the gross anatomy of the eyelids, but few articles regarding anatomical characteristics of the upper eyelid in histology. The paper focuses on the histological and anatomical characteristics of the upper eyelid, especially in the complex of levator palpebrae superioris and Müller’s muscle.
