Appendix: Carlo Bernardini: capsule biographical notes
Carlo Bernardini (22 April 1930–21 June 2018) was an Italian physicist who taught for may years at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. He worked in Frascati with the electron synchrotron AdA and Adone as one of the youngest scientists contributing to the renaissance of research in physics in Italy after the war. He was also elected to the Senate of Italian Republic (1976–1979).
He was actively engaged in the communication of science outside the community of scientists and was one of the main figures of the USPID, the Italian Union of Scientists for Disarmament. He also fought towards the innovation of the productive system of Italy trough leading-edge scientific results.
