Breast amyloidosis in clustered microcalcifications, associated with Sjogren’s syndrome

Abstract

The occurrence of breast amyloidosis with Sjögren’s syndrome is very unusual. We present our case of a 56 y.o. female who presented with a suspicious area of clustered microcalcifications during her screening mammogram. Fine needle aspiration biopsy was not diagnostic. Breast lesion excision sample (BLES biopsy) through mammotome not only contributed to diagnosis but it also helped to rule out malignancy. Pathology demonstrated amyloidosis. The lesion has a benign course.
