Abstract

This study has developed a new technique for detecting extremely low ciprofloxacin (CIPRO) antibiotic concentrations using silver nanoparticle/a porous silicon (AgNPs/PSi) SERS active substrate. In order to deposit aggregated AgNPs at various concentrations (10–3, 5 × 10–3, 10–2, 5 × 10–2 M) with the highest density of hotspot regions, a silicon nanocrystalline sample prepared using the KOH method has been used as a mold and a reducing agent. The fabrication of an AgNPs/PSi SERS substrate with the highly improved performance has been studied for detecting the CIPRO antibiotic at variable concentrations of about (10−7–10−13 M). The findings demonstrated that the suggested AgNPs/PSi SERS substrate offers a reliable method for detecting CIPRO at low concentrations, and it is discovered that CIPRO is relatively close to the surface. This process is considered a novel work which can be an adopted modification at the plasmonic features of metallic nanoparticles for SERs application.
