Abstract

The diagnosis of a long standing case of galactocele of the breast is rare, and there are very few of such cases reported Edmund et al. (2020). It is commonly seen in women during pregnancy and lactation and is caused by the obstruction and dilatation of the lactiferous ducts. We report the case of a 20-year-old post lactating woman who presented with a massive breast swelling which was present for a duration of 3 years. It was initially noticed following her first pregnancy during lactation and showed further increase in size during her second pregnancy and lactation. Based on her physical examination, ultrasound findings, and fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) report, she was diagnosed with galactocele and was treated with surgery in the form of surgical excision of the galactocele mass followed by reduction mammoplasty.
