Abstract

The persistent sciatic artery is a rare congenital developmental arterial anomaly representing persistence of sciatic artery in adult life which gives major blood supply to the lower limb in early embryologic development. It can remain asymptomatic or can present as aneurysm, claudication, or neuropathy and even present with bleeding due to rupture of an aneurysm. Cross-sectional imaging studies like CT angiography are the mainstay for its diagnosis. Early detection of this rare variant can prevent life-threatening complications and help in the treatment and follow-up of this condition.
