Abstract
Pneumatosis cystoides intestinalis (PCI) is a rare presentation, characterized by air-filled cysts within the submucosa or subserosa layers of the bowel wall. It may either occur idiopathically or secondary to many conditions such as pyloric stenosis, endoscopic trauma, using antineoplastic agents, surgery, and COPD. It generally proceeds asymptomatically and it is determined incidentally during the imaging procedures implemented for another purpose or during colonoscopy. Here in this report, we present a series of three cases, namely the patient who applied with rectal bleeding and acute abdominal findings (case 1), another patient who was diagnosed with PCI after nonspecific abdominal pain (case 2), and an asymptomatic case who was previously operated due to colon cancer where PCI was determined in control colonoscopy (case 3).
