Effect of Porosity and Layer Composition on Thermal Properties of a Gradient Composite

  • Published:
Russian Physics Journal Aims and scope

A theoretical model of the heating process of a multilayer composite material is proposed. The model takes into account the imperfect thermal contact between layers and the dependence of effective thermal properties on the porosity and layer composition. The computational results show that thermal conductivity of the composite has a nonlinear dependence on the modifier content in the layers. The increase of the porosity always leads to a decrease in the effective thermal conductivity and density of the composite material. The porous composite modified by SiC warms up worse than non-modified composite.
