Deformation Behavior of Ultrafine-Grained Materials Under Tension with Current

  • Published:
Russian Physics Journal Aims and scope

The influence of the structure and phase composition of metal alloys under tension with pulse current on the manifestation of the electroplastic effect is investigated. The reduction of the grain size down to nanometer scale, the presence of the second phases, and amorphization in alloys lead to weakening or complete disappearance of the electroplastic effect (EPE). In nanocrystalline alloys with reversible thermoelastic martensitic transformation the pulse current suppresses stress jumps down caused by the EPE and activates stress jumps up caused by the shape memory effect.
