Abstract

The polymerization of styrene in the presence of p-quinones of various structures was studied. The polymerization kinetics and molecular weight characteristics of polystyrene depend on the structure of p-quinone. Polystyrene samples obtained in the presence of p-quinones are macroinitiators of post-polymerization and block copolymerization. The rate of the process and molecular weight characteristics of the post-polymers depend on the p-quinone structure. For block copolymerization, the position and nature of substituents in p-quinone exert no significant effect on the characteristics of the polymers.
