Abstract

The results of a study of the topological structure of lignin from Betula pendula birch twigs are presented. The molecular properties of dilute solutions of lignin in DMF were investigated by the sedimentation velocity and translational diffusion methods, and by viscosimetry. The molecular weights of fractions, the conformational parameters, and the Tsvetkov-Klenin hydrodynamic invariant were determined. Correlations between the hydrodynamic, conformational, and fractal parameters of lignin were studied. Lignin from birch twigs was found to be a randomly branched polymer.
