On the Possibility of Detection of Electromagnetic Earthquake Precursors with Levels Below the Regular Background Noise

  • Published:
Radiophysics and Quantum Electronics Aims and scope

The problem of seeking electromagnetic earthquake precursors is briefly described. A method for detection of electromagnetic signals with low amplitudes is proposed. This method takes into account specific features in the spatial distribution of the Earth’s natural electromagnetic noise and uses the universal model of an underground magnetic field source. A demonstration experiment on detection of sources on short (about one hundred meters long) interference bases is carried out. Specific features such as the presence of false solutions in the inverse problem are revealed. Criteria for identifying such solutions are described.
