This issue of Population and Environment marks a change in the editorship of the journal. Under Lori Hunter’s guidance the journal has made a significant and timely impact on population studies and environmental sciences by broadening the theoretical, substantive, and methodological scope of the journal and speaking to issues critical to our planet’s health and longevity. She deserves high accolades for her devotion to the journal and her behind-the-scenes efforts to promote this important interdisciplinary scholarship. The current issue includes some of the last articles that she shepherded through the review process. I am excited to be taking the helm at this moment when the interactions of population processes and environmental change are receiving more scholarly attention and have greater salience for policy and practice.
