Abstract

Typhoon is one of the major weather disasters in China’s coastal and some inland areas. This study focuses on the evaluation of typhoon disaster in Zhejiang province, China, based on intuitionistic fuzzy theory. First, some new intuitionistic fuzzy information aggregation operators are proposed on the basis of analyzing the inadequacies of the existing operators. Then, the comparative study between the proposed operators and the existing operators are investigated in detail. Furthermore, a decision-making method based on the proposed operators is introduced and applied to the assessment of typhoon disaster in Zhejiang province, China. The research results show that Wenzhou and Hangzhou are two most seriously affected cities by typhoon disaster. The research results demonstrate that the method proposed in this paper for typhoon disaster evaluation is practical and effective. This paper also provides methodology instruction to the practices of dealing with typhoon disasters so as to effectively enhance the capacity of disaster reduction for all levels of government in China.
