The Effect of the Aperture Uncertainty of an Analog-to-Digital Converter on the Result of Measurements of the Active Power of a Periodic Nonsinusoidal Current

  • Published:
Measurement Techniques Aims and scope

Analytical expressions are obtained, which establish the relationship between the aperture uncertainty, which manifests itself in the form of random deviations of the instants of time of readouts of the measuring signal, and the error of the result of measurements of the active power of a periodic nonsinusoidal current, calculated from digital sequences of these readouts, for normal and uniform probability distributions of this deviation. These formulas are derived for two methods of measurement, the basis of which is the determination of the active power from measured instantaneous values: the current and voltage, and the current in a resistive load.
