Abstract

A cation-exchange chromatographic method was utilized to isolate strontium. The interference of recovery yield, calcium and magnesium, and the interference of beta spectrum, yttrium-90, were eluted from the AG 50 W-X8 resin (NH4+ form) by 0.02 mol L−1 DCTA at pH 6. Strontium successively was eluted with 6 mol L−1 HNO3. After the isolation procedure, the 2-windows method was applied to analyze 90Sr measuring via LSC. The activities of 90Sr obtained from the 2-windows method were in good agreement with recommended calculation method, ISO 18589-5:2009, and the average relative bias of the two methods was about 5%.
