Abstract
A magnetocaloric effect has been investigated in the La0.27Nd0.4Ca0.33MnO3. The results show that the maximum magnetic entropy change of La0.27Nd0.4Ca0.33MnO3 in the magnetic field change of 5.0 T is 10.05 J. kg−1. K−1 at 135 K, which is nearly equal Gd in the same magnetic field change. In addition, magnetic entropy change distribution is uniform, which is desirable for an Ericson cycle magnetic refrigerator. Moreover, it is showed that as magnetocaloric effect occurs in La0.27Nd0.4Ca0.33MnO3, an accurate control of the temperature change could be achieved by fine tuning several magnetic fields. This advantage should result in more efficient and accurate cooling devices.
