Abstract

Superconducting feeder busbar is a crucial component of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor feeder system. AC losses including hysteresis loss and coupling-current losses (10 cycles and 1000 cycles) of the toroidal field feeder main busbar are described and calculated in detail in 15MA plasma current reference scenario in this paper. The critical current density is taken independent of magnetic field, and then the hystersis loss is evaluated; the calculated values of time constant of strands and sub-cables and the test values are approximate, and then the coupling losses are evaluted, too.
