Abstract

A series of green-to-red color-tunable K3Tb1−xEuxB6O12 phosphors were synthesized via the high temperature solid-state reaction method. The crystal structure, morphology, luminescent properties and energy transfer of K3Tb1−xEux B6O12 were systematically investigated in detail. The obtained phosphors display both a green emission of Tb3+ and a red emission of Eu3+ with considerable intensity under ultraviolet excitation (377 nm). The emission colors of the phosphors can be tuned from green (0.291, 0.598) through yellow (0.528, 0.428), orange (0.573, 0.387) and eventually to red (0.629, 0.357) by adjusting the x values. These results show that the K3Tb1−xEuxB6O12 phosphors may find potential applications in the field of displays and lighting.
