Luminescent properties of LiBaBO3:Ce3+/Tb3+ phosphors

Abstract

A series of Ce3+ and/or Tb3+ doped LiBaBO3 phosphors have been synthesized by a solid state reaction. The XRD and FTIR results indicate that the doped Ce3+ and Tb3+ ions have no influence on the phase of LiBaBO3 host. For Ce3+ or Tb3+ single-doped LiBaBO3 phosphors, they show emission bands originating from Ce3+ or Tb3+ ions when they are excited by the ultraviolet light. For Ce3+ and Tb3+ codoped LiBaBO3 phosphors, tunable luminescence can be obtained through the energy transfer from Ce3+ to Tb3+.
