Abstract

Ba0.67Sr0.33TiO3 (BST) ceramics with 0.7 mol% Mn and y mol% Y (y = 0.6, 1.2, 1.8, 2.4) additions were fabricated via citrate–nitrate combustion derived powders, and the microstructure, dielectric properties and tunable properties of BST ceramics were investigated. The doping behavior of Y changes from acceptor doping to donor doping with increasing the content of Y, and the dielectric constant and loss tend to decrease with increasing doped concentration. The ceramic sample with 1.8 mol% Y exhibits the optimal properties with dielectric constant of 5520, dielectric loss of 0.003 and tunability of 43 % at 10 kHz and 20 ºC, respectively. Both the low dielectric loss and enhanced tunable properties of the BST ceramic are useful for tunable applications.
