Variation of Filtration Regime in Shore Abutments of the Earthen Dam at the Irganai HPP

Experience with reinforcement of an anti-filtration curtain under complex geologic conditions, high heads, and heavy return flows of water is examined, and the history of the problem, difficulties with which were encountered during work production and scientific investigations, and means of their solution are presented. A preliminary assessment of the effectiveness of measures taken based on full-scale studies and construction monitoring is given.
