Estimate of the Sulfur Dioxide Concentration at Thermal Power Plants Fired by Donetsk Coal

  • Published:
Power Technology and Engineering Aims and scope

The effect of the elemental composition of coals on the expected concentration of sulfur in dry flue gas is analyzed. Linear engineering plots of the reduced sulfur dioxide concentration (per 1% of sulfur content for dry fuel mass) as a function of the ash content of coals for dry fuel mass are obtained for high- and low-reactivity Donbass coals and can be used to estimate the expected emissions of sulfur dioxide based on data from a technical analysis of the coals.
