Use of Chemical and Microbiological Methods to Synthesize Natural Polyacetylenes

  • Published:
Chemistry of Natural Compounds Aims and scope

Chemical and microbiological methods for synthesizing polyacetylenes were studied. The reaction of 1,4-dibromobutyne with monosubstituted acetylene alcohols (propargyl alcohol and dimethylethynylcarbinol) in the presence of a catalytic system formed the corresponding unconjugated polyacetylene diols, from which polyacetylene derivatives were prepared. Polyacetylenes containing several triple and double bonds were also synthesized using biosyntheses by basidial fungi such as Ganoderma lucidum, Pleurotus ostreatus, Laetiporus sulphureus, and Trametes hirsuta.
