  • Published:
Chemistry of Natural Compounds Aims and scope

A new benzopyran derivative, (–)-rel-5,7-dihydroxy-2-(4-methoxypentyl)-4,6-dimethylisochroman-8-one (1), was isolated from the red yeast rice of Monascus pilosus. The structure was determined by analyses of mass spectrometry and 1D and 2D NMR data. The relative configuration of the isolated compound was assigned on the basis of 2D NOESY experiments.
