A method for optimally cooling a volumetric compressor, which takes into account the energy costs involved, is presented on the example of a water-cooled reciprocating compressor. Using the basic thermodynamic relations for calculating technical work during compression of a volumetric compressor, the heat balance equation, as well as the conservation equations for the liquid cooling system of a reciprocating compressor, are given along with calculations of the optimal cooling parameters.
