Short-Term Spectral Variability of the Herbig Ae/Be Star HD37806

  • Published:
Astrophysics Aims and scope

The spectroscopic variability of the Herbig Ae/Be star HD 37806 is analyzed on temporal scales from night-to-night, and over individual nights. The observations were made during November 2012 on the ASP-14 Coude spectrograph installed on the 2.6-m ZTSh telescope at the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory. 40 spectra in the region of the Ha and HeI 5876 lines were obtained over 4 nights. An analysis of the observed variability of the profiles of these lines shows that: (a) the variations in the Ha profiles are well explained under the assumption that they are vibrationally modulated by local azimuthal inhomogeneities in the wind zone and (b) the rapid variability of the HeI 5876 line in the form of standing intensity waves in the region of a red absorbing component is additional evidence of the presence of a magnetosphere in HD37806 that contains local accretion fluxes that rotate rigidly in the star’s magnetic field.
