Zusammenfassung
Wir berichten über einen Fall von Kohlenmonoxidintoxikation nach Gebrauch einer Wasserpfeife (Shisha). Der Patient stellte sich nach einer Synkope mit Sturz auf den Kopf und kurzer Bewusstlosigkeit in verwirrtem Zustand vor. Nach Diagnosestellung mithilfe einer Blutgasanalyse und Therapie mit Sauerstoff erholte sich der Patient vollständig. Der Rauch von Wasserpfeifen kann hohe Mengen an Kohlenmonoxid enthalten; eine Kohlenmonoxidintoxikation sollte bei unklaren Bewusstseinsstörungen differenzialdiagnostisch erwogen werden.
Abstract
We report a case of carbon monoxide poisoning following the use of a water pipe (hookah). The patient presented after syncope and short loss of consciousness in a state of confusion. Following oxygen therapy the patient recovered fully. Smoke from a water pipe can contain high amounts of carbon monoxide, and carbon monoxide poisoning should be considered in unclear disorders of consciousness.
