Abstract
A large number of mutant varieties have been reported in different ornamental plants, but reports on a comparative evaluation of original and mutant varieties are very restricted. This chapter covers the results of the comparative analysis of original cultivars and their respective induced mutants on cytomorphological, radiosensitivity, anatomical, palynological, and biochemical characters for a better and clear understanding of the exact mechanism involved in the origin and evolution of somatic flower color mutations at the molecular level.
