Abstract
Bronchiolitis obliterans with organizing pneumonia (BOOP) is a rare syndrome characterized by interstitial changes. The main manifestations are bronchiolitis obliterans, organizing pneumonia, interstitial pneumonia, and pulmonary fibrosis. It was officially named by Epler et al. in 1985 [1]. The etiology of most BOOP patients is unknown, so it is also called cryptogenic organizing pneumonia (see Sect. 25.6 of Chap. 25), and a few cases are related to infection, connective tissue disease, radiotherapy, adverse drug reactions, inhalation of harmful substances, and other factors [2].
