Abstract
Faculty members are the assets of each university and the key players for continuous improvements in teaching and learning, and assessment. Supporting their innovations and educational scholarship would enhance their skills; thereby enable faculty members to adapt to their several roles in university. On the other hand, this type of support is a powerful tool in creating a positive institutional climate that will yield better educational outcomes. Our goal in this chapter is to promote and support distinguished and innovative educational excellence and scholarship among faculty. To achieve this goal we are proposing seven strategic initiatives (objectives). The first initiative, is to collaborate with the Deanship for Skills Development at King Saud University. Second, to develop and support best utilization of educational materials by faculty members. Third, to provide a list of high-quality courses in educational scholarship. Fourth, to foster the utilization of online courses. Fifth, to train faculty on educational scholarship. Sixth, to provide support for educational research. Seventh initiative, is to develop and suggest ways to recognize innovation in teaching and learning, and assessment. A summary of these initiatives concludes this chapter.
